These General Terms of Business cover the legal relationship between ticket holders and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (DOR) for performances by the DOR at Opernhaus Düsseldorf / Theater Duisburg. Purchasing a ticket, voucher, other DOR products or completing a subscription contract includes acceptance of these terms. These General Terms of Business also apply to members of visitor organizations as long as no agreement has been made to the contrary. These General Terms of Business also apply to subscribers provided no special agreement has been made in the DOR’s subscription terms.

Entrance tickets must be shown to staff together with supporting i.d. for reduced price tickets. Each ticket permits entry to the performance for 1 person. Ticket holders who arrive late have no right of admittance. Provided this can be done without disturbing the performance, they may be admitted to the auditorium at the discretion of the front of house staff.  Latecomers have the opportunity to watch the performance on monitors in the foyer.

The DOR will publish its programme including start times and casting details at regular intervals.   No guarantee can be given for the details given in the programme, posters or other publications. Such details may be changed.

Tickets are available from the DOR‘s daytime and evening box offices and other DOR ticket outlets. The evening box office is usually open from one hour before the start of the performance. This also applies to morning or afternoon performances. Tickets can be purchased at any time online through the webshop using the websites www.operamrhein.de and www.ballettamrhein.de (payment by credit card or direct debit) or tickets can be reserved using the order form. Both options can be accessed by clicking on the €-sign next to the performance in the online programme.

Advance sales are available for the entire season. Details may be changed. Pre-booked tickets will usually be reserved for up to 10 days after receipt of the ticket request. If pre-booked tickets are not collected, the reservation will lapse. The length of time that reservations will be held may be changed. Reserved tickets will only be held at the evening box office is these tickets have been paid for before the end of the reservation period. Full details of the procedures for advance ticket sales and reservations by telephone or in writing are specified in the DOR’s annual brochure and monthly repertoire leaflets.

Entry prices are usually revised each season. They can be found in the DOR’s programme publications.

The following reductions are available for DOR performances at Opernhaus  Düsseldorf / Theater Duisburg:

Reductions of approx. 50% may be claimed by: school students, students and those in training up to the age of 28, those in voluntary service  (armed services volunteers / Voluntary Social Year); war wounded and the disabled with 70% disability and over where shown on the i.d. plus a companion; recipients of unemployment benefit, old age pensions or other social security benefits (social security recipients, in Duisburg holders of the Duisburg-Pass), will receive a reduction of approx. 50% on the price of a single ticket. The reduction can be claimed on production of the relevant i.d. (entitlement card) both through advanced sales outlets and at the evening box office. Holders of reduced price tickets may be required to present the relevant proof of entitlement to a reduction to the entrance personnel at Opernhaus Düsseldorf / Theater Duisburg. No reductions are available for premieres or the performance on New Year’s Eve.  For special events reductions may be available on a case by case basis.

Groups may claim the following reductions: Groups of 20 persons and over are usually able to claim a discount of approx. 20% of the entry price. There are normally special reductions for school classes. These are published in the annual brochure. Group reductions are not available for premieres in price categories 1 to 5 or for any categories at the New Year’s Eve performance. For other special events reductions may be available on a case by case basis.

As the external costs included in the ticket price cannot be discounted, the reduced ticket price will be slightly higher than the discount percentage quoted.

As a matter of principle entry tickets cannot be taken back or exchanged once they have been sold. If they are taken back as a goodwill gesture – in exchange for a voucher for further tickets – a transaction charge of up to 8.00 EURO will be made. No replacement will be made for tickets which have expired. If another work is performed in the place of the work advertised at the time the ticket was purchased, then those purchased tickets may be returned at the box office up to the beginning of the performance.  Changes of cast and other changes to the performance made at short notice do not normally entitle the holders to return their tickets. Exceptions may be made in individual cases at the discretion of the theatre management. No reimbursements will be made for performances cancelled due to force majeure or which ticketholders have missed. No claims against the DOR other than those described above will be recognized. In particular, expenses that ticketholders have incurred in vain (e.g. travel costs) will not be reimbursed. Any claim for a refund of the cost of entry must be received by the DOR in writing within two weeks. After that time any claim will have lapsed.

If an entrance ticket is lost the DOR is under no obligation to issue a replacement ticket.
