Ville Enckelmann

Conductor, Repetiteur and
Musical Director of the Opera Studio
Finnish Ville Enckelmann first studied English in Helsinki before turning to music studies in Stockholm. After completing his training at the Operahögskolan as a repetiteur in 1998, he was engaged at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. He has also worked at the Savonlinna, Ystad and Dalhalla Festivals and at the European Union Opera in Baden-Baden and in Paris. In 2000 Enckelmann joined the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as a repetiteur. Since the 2003/04 season, he has also been active as a conductor, conducting productions such as Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin", Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel", Puccini's "Tosca", Offenbach's "The Beautiful Helena" and Porter's "Kiss me, Kate". In Finland, Ville Enckelmann conducted Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" at the Vaasa Theatre in 2005 and 2006. In the 2009/10 season, he held the musical direction of "Das Schloß" after Franz Kafka, a co-production of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein with the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and in 2013/14 he conducted Hartmann's "Wachsfigurenkabinett" with the Opera Studio. In 2017 Enckelmann conducted Marius Felix Lange's "Snow Queen" at the Düsseldorf Opera House, a production that was later released on DVD and also featured online on Operavision. Since the 2014/15 season, Ville Enckelmann has been musical director of the Opera Studio at Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
