Born in Essen, Anna Grundmeier studied German and Theatre Studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum. After internships in the dramaturgy department of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the press department of the Staatsoper Berlin, she was offered a permanent position as dramaturg at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen in 2010. From 2010-2018 she supervised numerous music theatre and ballet productions there, including "The Love for Three Oranges" (Elmar Gehlen), "Il barbiere di siviglia" (Michaela Dicu), "Cabaret", "The Merry Widow" (Sandra Wissmann), "Albert Herring" (Thomas Weber Schallauer), "Tosca" (Tobias Heyder), "Rigoletto", "Jesus Christ Superstar" (Michael Schulz), "Linie 1" (Carsten Kirchmeier), "The Tales of Hoffmann" (Michiel Dijkema), "Nabucco" (Sonja Trebes), "Prospero's Island", "Romeo and Juliet" (Bridget Breiner), "Three Sisters", "Hamlet" (Cathy Marston) and "Open (S)Pace" (Jeroen Verbruggen). One focus of her work included accompanying play development such as the world premiere "Sprung in die Leere" by Felix Leuschner, the anniversary show 111 Jahre Schalke 04 "Kennst du den Mythos...?" as well as the multi-part music theatre "ingolf" by Daniel Kötter and Hannes Seidl.
In addition, she developed and directed the conversation format MiR.Salon at the Gelsenkirchen Music Theatre, which dealt with topics of social and cultural life.
Since the 2018/19 season, Anna Grundmeier has been a dramaturg at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
