Matthias Koziorowski

Matthias Koziorowski comes from Essen, where he studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Prof. KS Wolfgang Millgramm. He was also able to complete his musical training by attending master classes with Helen Donath, Janet Williams, Olaf Bär, Anja Harteros and Andreas Homoki. He is currently being mentored by Prof. Thomas Heyer.
After working as a permanent ensemble member at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin and the Oper Halle, he was engaged at the Graz Opera from 2021 to 2024. In the future, the young tenor will work freelance and will make his debut in the 2024/25 season at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice with the title role in Kurt Weill's “Der Protagonist”, among others.
Other engagements in the current season include the role of Prince Pao in Zemlinsky's “The Chalk Circle” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, as well as Jim in “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
Janáček's “Tagebuch eines Verschollenen” at the Rome Opera is planned for the 2025/26 season, as well as Tambourmajor (“Wozzeck”) and Hoffmann at major opera houses in German-speaking countries.
Matthias Koziorowski has sung as a guest at the Aalto Theater in Essen, the Dortmund Opera, the Mannheim National Theatre, the Dresden State Operetta, the Bonn Opera, the Mainz State Theatre, the Teatro Regio in Parma and the theaters in Kiel, Heidelberg, Lübeck, Coburg, Bremen and Hagen. Numerous concert engagements have taken him to the Dortmund Concert Hall, the Auditorio Nacional di Madrid, the Cologne and Essen Philharmonie, the Berlin Cathedral and the Düsseldorf Tonhalle as well as the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. His wide-ranging stage repertoire includes roles such as Max (“Der Freischütz”), Hoffmann (“The Tales of Hoffmann”), Erik (“The Flying Dutchman”), Alfredo (“La Traviata”), Hans (“The Bartered Bride”), Prince (“Rusalka”), Dimitrij (“Boris Godunow”), Jim (“Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny”), Lenski (“Eugen Onegin”) and Steva (“Jenůfa”), as well as Eisenstein (“Die Fledermaus”), Candide and Danilo (“Die lustige Witwe”). His concert repertoire includes the tenor roles in Britten's “War Requiem”, Dvořák's “Stabat Mater”, Mendelssohn's “Lobgesang”, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Mahler's “Lied von der Erde” and Verdi's Requiem.
