Ballet school

Content
Dancing is fun - and ballet offers children and young people an extraordinary combination of training for strength, flexibility, coordination and musicality.
Concentration is also required and encouraged.

Under one roof with professional dancers from all over the world, children and young people from
from the age of 6 can discover the great variety of ballet at the ballet school of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and learn different dance techniques. The currently around 60 pupils aged between 6 and 16 are taught in four groups divided according to age or level of training.

The focus is on classical academic ballet and is supplemented by PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), character dance and modern dance techniques. Children and young people can gain their first dance experience and a solid grounding, which also provides an excellent basis for admission to one of the renowned classical or modern ballet and dance academies.

Choreographies are also rehearsed and performed at parents' days at the end of each semester and at the school performance that takes place every two years.

From the 2024/25 season, Eva Zamazalová will take over the management of the ballet school.
After her successful ballet career at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she has been teaching various age groups in classical ballet and character dance for more than 20 years. Artistic advisor to her will be Raphaël Coumes-Marquet, who, together with Bridget Breiner takes over the direction of the Ballett am Rhein.
