Eric Domenech

The music of the Franco-German composer Eric Domenech is already being appreciated by musicians of his generation. Symphonic works have been premiered in close collaboration with conductors such as Anna Handler, Vitali Alekseenok and Martijn Dendievel. His chamber music has been performed by the Vision String Quartet, the Sonoro Quartet and the Amsterdam Wind Quintet, among others. His solo works have been performed by international artists such as Can Çakmur, Nicolas Dupont and José Navarro-Silberstein.
Collaborations with various choreographers have shaped his musical understanding.
Domenech's multifaceted oeuvre includes symphonic music with a focus on dance and music theater, chamber music, concertante and solo works. Through his intensive involvement with contemporary music and his concert activities as a pianist, he seeks a musical language that focuses on combining tradition and new discoveries.
He began studying composition at the Robert Schumann Hochschule (Manfred Trojahn) and continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar (Michael Obst, Reinhard Wolschina). In his search for solid, historically-informed compositional craft, he then deepened his skills at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse et Musique in the subjects of music theory, écriture, orchestration and as a pianist in chamber music.
He has been awarded a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. In 2019, he was “Composer in Residence” at the Beethoven-Haus Bonn as part of the Beethoven-Festspiele. In addition to his freelance work as a composer, Eric Domenech has been a lecturer in music theory and composition at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg since 2024.
