Riccardo Romeo

Riccardo Romeo was born in Augsburg to Italian parents and grew up bilingually. He studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in the class of Prof. Berthold Possemeyer and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSM) in France in the class of Yves Sotin. In the 2020/21 season he was a member of the ensemble at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater, from 2021 to 2024 he was a member of the soloist ensemble of the Staatsoperette Dresden.
In his youth, he sang in various choirs at the Albert Greiner Sing- und Musikschule in Augsburg and in the children's and youth choir at the Augsburg Theater. He appeared as a soloist in several opera productions and gained his first stage experience, for example in Puccini's "Tosca" in the role of the Shepherd in 2005 and later in various children's operas at the "Komödie Augsburg".
During his studies, he appeared as a guest at the Staatstheater Nürnberg, Staatstheater Darmstadt and the Frankfurt Opera. In summer 2018, he appeared as Monostatos in the Escales Lyriques festival on Île d'Yeu in France in the local production of "Die Zauberflöte". He also appeared in the 2018/19 season as Basilio (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro") at the Stadttheater Gießen, as Ecclitico (Haydn "Die Welt auf dem Mond") in the annual production of the CNSM de Paris and as Prince Ramir (Isouard "Cendrillon") at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne. In the 19/20 season, he was engaged as Gastone ("La Traviata") at the Zénith d'Orléans and as the Second Soldier/Liberto in "L'incoronazione di Poppea" at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Riccardo Romeo has already taken part in several masterclasses, including with Mireille Alcantara, Enza Ferrari, Helmut Deutsch, Axel Bauni, William Christie and Veronique Gens. He is also a scholarship holder of the Fondation Royaumont Foundation. From the 2024/25 season, he will be part of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf.
