The Italian Francesca Berruto studied at the Scuola di danza of the Balletto Teatro di Torino and at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart. She was a member of the Stuttgart Ballet from 2007 to 2012 and performed as a dancer in the corps de ballet in “Onegin”, “Swan Lake”, “Initials RBME” by John Cranko, “Theme and Variations” by George Balanchine, “The Lady of the Camellias” by John Neumeier and “Sleeping Beauty” by Marcia Haydée, among others.
At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, she moved to the Ballett im Revier Gelsenkirchen. There, Bridget Breiner created several leading roles for her, such as Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”, Miranda in “Prospero's Island” and Hermia in “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, and she also danced the title role in the world premiere of Luiz Fernando Bongiovanni's “Alice in Wonderland”. She interpreted Livia in “Ruß - Eine Geschichte von Aschenputtel”, Desdemona in “Tragedies of Othello” and was seen in “Sweet spell of oblivion” by David Dawson, Marco Goecke's “Sweet Sweet Sweet” and “Indigo Rose” by Jiří Kylián. She is the winner of the 2016 Gelsenkirchen Theater Prize.
In 2019, she joined the Staatsballett Karlsruhe as a member of the ensemble, where she performed in “A Million Kisses to my Skin” and as Myrtha in “Giselle” - both by David Dawson - “Ruff celts” and “Elementary particles” by Marguerite Donlon, “Requiem for a Rose” by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, as well as in the leading roles in “Maria Stuart” and “Was ihr wollt” by Bridget Breiner. Francesca Berruto joined Ballett am Rhein in the 2024/25 season.
