Iratxe Ansa

Iratxe Ansa, born in San Sebastian in 1976, began her training as a dancer in the Spanish Basque Country and graduated from the John Cranko School in Stuttgart.
In her career as a dancer from 1994-2010, she was a member of the Ballet Basel, the Ballet Gulbenkian (Portugal), the National Dance Company of Spain, the Lyon Opera Ballet and the Nederlands Dans Theater. With her versatile expressiveness and creative power, she has always been an important partner for choreographers.
Since 2010, Iratxe Ansa has been working as a freelance artist, mainly in the field of choreography. In recognition of her work in the world of dance, she has already received various awards, including the Spanish National Dance Award in the Performer category (2020). The jury highlighted Iratxe Ansa's exceptional "range as a performer, which allows her to shine beyond the purely physical work, and her mastery of developing the body to transform technique into a constant and versatile evolution". She was also honoured with the Max Award for Best Female Dance Performer (Spain, 2021) for her performance in the piece "In the Nude".

Metamorphosis Dance
The professional paths of artists Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich crossed back in 2013 and since then they have created numerous pieces together as guest choreographers for renowned dance companies and cultural institutions. In 2019, they founded their company Metamorphosis Dance, with which they have developed their own aesthetic line and language. Their passion lies in the process, in exploring all facets of movement and in constantly striving for excellence.
