Ricardo Llamas-Márquez

The Spanish bass-baritone Ricardo Llamas Márquez was born in Seville and initially studied violin, piano and composition. He took singing lessons with Francisco José Comino Crespo and studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel Castillo in Seville and at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig. There he completed the “Meisterklasse” with Professor Roland Schubert.
Recent engagements have taken Ricardo Llamas Márquez to the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao, where he sang the role of Ogro (“Puss in Boots”), to the Theater Dessau as Dottore Grenvil (“La traviata”) and to the Theater Münster as Marullo in Verdi's “Rigoletto”. He also appears regularly as a concert singer and has performed as a soloist with the Seville Symphony Orchestra, the Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra and the Málaga Symphony Orchestra, among others. In 2023, the bass-baritone was awarded the “Pedro Lavirgen” prize at the 40th International Singing Competition in Logroño. He previously took part in the “Crescendo, Creamos Ópera” program at the Teatro Real in Madrid and was a finalist in the “Nuevas Voces de Sevilla Competition”, where he received the special prize of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. In the 2024/25 season, he will play the role of Wurm in Giuseppe Verdi's “Luisa Miller” at Theater Osnabrück and Sarastro in “Die Zauberflöte” and Don Magnifico in “La Cenerentola” at Landestheater Detmold. As King Krax in Pierangelo Valtinoni's “Die Reise zu Planet 9” Ricardo Llamas Márquez gives his house debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
