In cooperation with the Theater der Jungen Welt Leipzig.
For a whole year, various groups and professional artists worked under the direction of Schorsch Kamerun in Leipzig and Duisburg on historical and current resistance. In Leipzig, the result is the walk-in concert installation “Meuten Memorial Movement”, which focuses on the history of the Leipzig Meuten and youth culture and opposition then and now on Lindenauer Markt.
“House of Resistance” is the second theatrical work of the large-scale project: on 8 May 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, musicians, dancers, actors and choirs from Duisburg, together with Schorsch Kamerun and the Leipzig ensemble of “Meuten Memorial Movement”, will transform the Duisburg Theater into a walk-in installation on the subject of resistance. In the second part of the evening, this will culminate in a staged concert on the main stage, featuring the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and a large project choir, who will perform songs from the project as well as other modern music on the subject of resistance.
In the first part of the event from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., the audience will move through the theater equipped with wireless headphones (available when the house opens at 5.30 p.m.). This part is barrier-free to a limited extent. The second part of the event from 7.30 p.m. takes place in the auditorium.
