Nanette Glushak

Nanette Glushak was born in New York and trained at the School of American Ballet. George Balanchine engaged her at the age of 16 in the New York City Ballet, and in 1970 she moved to the American Ballet Theater, where she took on numerous leading roles in productions by Balanchine, Robbins, Tudor, MacMillan, Ashton, Tetley, Cunningham, Nureyev, Makarova, van Dantzig, Tharp, Petit and others. In 1973 she danced alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov in Balanchine's "Apollo". In 1983 she became co-director of the Fort Worth Ballet in Texas. Since 1987, as a member of the Balanchine Trust, she has supervised the rehearsal of Balanchine's ballets with numerous European companies, including the Royal Ballet London, Berlin and Bavarian State Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Vienna State Opera Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Ballet de L'Opéra National de Lyon, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Royal Swedish National Ballet and Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam. In 1989/90 Nanette Glushak was artistic director of Scottish Ballet Glasgow, and since 1994 she has been director of the Ballet du Capitol de Toulouse, where she has also presented her own adaptations of the classics "Giselle" and "Sleeping Beauty", among others.
