Dimitra Kotidou

Born in 1992, Greek coloratura soprano Dimitra Kotidou studied piano and voice in her hometown of Athens and music theory, counterpoint and fugue at the Kodaly International Music Institute. She continued her vocal training at the Athenaeum Maria Callas Conservatory with Christina Giannakopoulou until graduating with honors. She recently completed additional training in 18th century opera with Prof. Thomas F. Kelly at Harvard University. She also completed various master classes and was a member of the Opera Studio of the Greek National Opera in Athens from 2014 to 2016. At the age of 19, she made her debut there as Ninetta (Mozart "La finta semplice"). She belonged to the opera studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein from 2016 to 2018, where she appeared on stage as Papagena (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte") or Gianetta (Donizetti "L'elisir d'amore"), among others. From Düsseldorf she moved to the ensemble of the Landestheater Coburg, where she appeared in roles such as Queen of the Night (Mozart "The Magic Flute"), Frasquita (Bizet "Carmen"), Woglinde (Wagner "Das Rheingold"), Despina (Mozart "Così fan tutte"), Pepi Pleininger (J. Strauss Sohn "Wiener Blut") and in the title role in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor". Her operatic repertoire also includes roles such as Belinda (Purcell "Dido and Aeneas"), Cupido (Blow "Venus and Adonis"), Serpina (Pergolesi "La serva padrona"), Blonde (Mozart "Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Ortlinde (Wagner "Die Walküre"), Linda di Chamounix (Donizetti), Olympia (Offenbach "Les Contes d'Hoffmann"), Zerbinetta (R. Strauss "Ariadne auf Naxos") and Konstanze (Mozart "Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), among others.
As Queen of the Night and Frasquita, Dimitra Kotidou made a guest appearance at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 2023/24 she returns here as the Queen of the Night.
