Erich Kästner's classic children's book "Das fliegende Klassenzimmer", published in 1933, is an immortal declaration of love for friendship: big heroines stick together in good times and hard times alike.
The renowned composer and director of the Venice Music Biennale Lucia Ronchetti, who has already worked with the Semperoper Dresden, the Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart and repeatedly with the SWR Experimental Studio in Freiburg, has been commissioned by the "Junge Opern Rhein-Ruhr" cooperation to set "The Flying Classroom" to music for the first time as large-scale music theatre for families.
The director is Ilaria Lanzino, who staged "Gold!", "Der Kiosk" and "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" for the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
A cooperation of Deutsche Oper am Rhein with Theater Dortmund and Theater Bonn within the framework of "Junge Opern Rhein-Ruhr".
