Anooshah Golesorkhi

Originally from Iran and raised in California, dramatic baritone Anooshah Golesorkhi first studied chemistry in Los Angeles before studying composition in San Diego in addition to singing. In 1988, he made his debut as Amonasro (Verdi "Aida") at Opera Pacific in California. In the course of his career, guest engagements have taken him worldwide to major opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera New York, Vienna State Opera, Washington Opera, L'Opéra de Nice, Finnish National Opera, Graz Opera, the State Theaters of Hanover and Wiesbaden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frankfurt Opera, the State Operas of Stuttgart and Hamburg, and Leipzig Opera, as well as to the Teatro Real Madrid, National Theater Mannheim, National Theater Prague, and to the Ashkelon Festival in Israel and the Skopje Festival in northern Macedonia, among others. His repertoire includes all of Verdi's great dramatic baritone roles such as Rigoletto, Nabucco, Simon Boccanegra, Macbeth, Amonasro, Iago ("Otello"), Giorgio Germont ("La traviata"), Renato ("Un ballo in maschera") and Conte di Luna ("Il trovatore") as well as, among others. the roles of Escamillo (Bizet "Carmen"), Barnaba (Ponchielli "La Gioconda"), Sharpless (Puccini "Madama Butterfly"), High Priest of Dagon (Saint-Saëns "Samson et Dalila"), Scarpia (Puccini "Tosca") or Wagner's Telramund ("Lohengrin") and Donner ("Das Rheingold"). He regularly works with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Daniel Oren, James Levine, Adam Fischer, Axel Kober and Zubin Mehta.
At Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Anooshah Golesorkhi has made guest appearances in the title role of Wagner's "Der fliegende Holländer," as Alfio in Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana," Simone in Zemlinsky's "A Florentine Tragedy," Peter in Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," Jochanaan in R. Strauss' "Salome" and Michele in Puccini's "Il tabarro," among others. In the 2022/23 season he will take over Michonnet in Cilea's "Adriana Lecouvreur".
