Sebastian Ludwig
Born in Böblingen in 1996, repetiteur and conductor Sebastian Ludwig was a multiple prizewinner at Jugend musiziert as a chamber music partner and piano accompanist. In 2013, he began his studies in opera repetition at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar.
During his studies, he was already a guest solo repetiteur with conducting duties at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar in 2015. He returned there in 2017 as assistant to the choir director and also took part in the masterclass in conducting at the Bayreuth Festival, where he worked with Christian Thielemann, Marek Janowski and Hartmut Haenchen.
After completing his bachelor's degree, Sebastian Ludwig was engaged as a repetiteur in the Young Ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden from 2018 to 2020. For the 2020/21 season, he moved to the Nationaltheater Mannheim as a repetiteur and also conducted the children's opera "Schneewitte" (J. Joneleit) at the Semperoper in October 2020. He has also made guest appearances as musical assistant at the Salzburg Easter Festival, among others, and has been associated with the Bayreuth Festival in this capacity for several years. Sebastian Ludwig has been a repetiteur at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since the 2022/23 season. Here, he also conducted Ullmann's "Der Kaiser von Atlantis" and performed as a pianist in song matinees in the foyer of the Düsseldorf Opera. Most recently, in addition to his work as a repetiteur, he was responsible for the musical direction of Eggert's "Iwein Löwenritter" and appeared as a guest pianist with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the 2024/25 season, he will take over the musical direction of Humperdinck's "Hänsel and Gretel" at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and will be heard in concerts.
