With three impressive signatures, Ballett am Rhein starts the 2024/25 season and lays the foundation for a diverse, virtuoso and technically challenging ballet programme under the new ballet direction. The programme begins with "Four Schumann Pieces", one of the few works by Hans van Manen not yet shown in Düsseldorf / Duisburg.

Also new to Ballett am Rhein is a work by choreographer David Dawson: "Empire Noir" takes us into a world shimmering with energy - fast-paced, with the highest dance standards and relentless in its journey through the darkness of the night.

A world premiere by Bridget Breiner concludes this evening on the traces of what characterises us and where our roots lie. In close collaboration with the stage and costume designer Jürgen Franz Kirner, an abstract work is created about the necessity of looking back in order to move forward and define oneself.
