Scandal behind the scenes!
Comic opera in two acts
Libretto by Domenico Gilardoni
German text by Stefan A. Troßbach
In German and Italian language with German surtitles
approx. 2 ½ hours, one interval

Drama, drama everywhere! The highly tragic period piece "Romulus ed Ersilia" is being rehearsed on the rehearsal stage. But somehow everything goes wrong: the prima donna is not feeling herself, the trouser role is not to her liking and the tenor wants to play the first time in his life the first violin. And to make matters worse, Mamma Agata, the second soprano's helicopter mother, bursts in...
When the trouser role and the tenor finally leave in a huff, the situation is dire: who is going to sing Romulus? Without further ado and very helpfully, the completely unmusical Mamma Agata wants to jump in. But before it even gets that far, let premiere the performance of the opera happen, everything is over and the opera house is to be closed!

In his opera buffa, in which the Mamma is played by a bariton (!), Gaetano Donizetti creates a musically colourful and virtuoso parody of the customs and mores of the theatre with all the clichés and eccentric tendencies of the artists, comedically staged by director Daniel Kramer ("Die tote Stadt").
