Traian Sturza
Born in Romania in 1997, Traian Sturza studied at the Schwob School of Music in Columbus/Georgia, USA, with Dr Ronald Wirt and Dr Stephanie Patterson and completed his master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Professor Dag Jensen.
He was a Villa-Musica Rheinland-Pfalz scholarship holder and has been invited to renowned music festivals such as the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, the Brevard Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. As a soloist, he played as a finalist with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra at the Aeolus Competition, with the ‘Moldova’ Philharmonic Orchestra Iasi, Dubrovački Simfonijski Orkestar and the Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, USA.
As an academy student with the Vienna Philharmonic, he worked under the direction of renowned conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Franz Welser-Möst, Tugan Sokhiev, Kiril Petrenko, Jakub Hrůša, Valery Gergiev and Ricardo Muti. He has also played in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Lagrange Symphony Orchestra and as co-solo bassoonist at the Malmö Opera in Sweden.
Traian Sturza has been principal bassoonist with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra since 2023.
