Description
This season, the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein has arranged to meet in style three times for exciting dates with strong musicians from the region at the stage bar: Klezmer, jazz and drag in musical dialog with aria, song and Lied! A musical rendezvous with a chat about music and the world, before perhaps even jumping into the crossover box while making music together.
The first “Rendezvous at half past seven” in the 2024/25 season follows in the footsteps of klezmer, the ancient festive music from Eastern Europe that is still played at popular Jewish celebrations such as weddings, religious and non-religious occasions. Today, klezmer is also a musical art form that can be heard all over the world and in concert contexts. Ensemble Firasso and soloists from the Deutsche Oper am Rhein will come together for the date at the opera house, to which they have all brought music that is close to their hearts. Ensemble Firasso - Marko Kassl on accordion, Robert Beck on clarinet and Nils Imhorst on double bass - have brought their own compositions, whose musical language is characterized by klezmer tradition, tango and Balkan music. For their part, the singers offer the big stage to festive songs, arias and folk songs from their home countries. And then it's time: Long live musical encounters! Let it crackle and passion set the tone!
