Beniamin Pop

Beniamin Pop comes from Bistritz in Romania and studied singing with Marius Vlad at the Gheorghe Dima University of Music in Cluj-Napoca. The bass was a finalist at the Belvedere Competition in 2018 and the Virginia Zeani Competition in 2019 and also completed masterclasses with Kammersängerin Linda Watson, Bo Skovhus, Franz Grundheber and Peter Seiffert. Before joining the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble in the 2018/19 season, Beniamin Pop was a member of the local opera studio from 2016 to 2018. Since then, he has appeared in Düsseldorf and Duisburg as as Masetto (Mozart "Don Giovanni"), Figaro (Mozart "Le nozze di Figaro"), Un Frate (Verdi "Don Carlos"), Count Ceprano (Verdi "Rigoletto"), The Prince of Boullion (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur"), Montano (Verdi "Otello"), Angelotti (Puccini "Tosca"), Surin (Tchaikovsky "Queen of Spades"), Rocking Chair / Tree (Ravel "L'Enfant et les sortilèges"), Colline (Puccini "La Bohème") and Melisso (Handel "Alcina"). He made a guest appearance in Bucharest as Lakai / Truffaldino in R. Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos". At the Heidenheim Opera Festival in 2022, he appeared on stage as Hermann (Wagner's "Tannhäuser").

Beniamin Pop's roles in the 2024/25 season include Dottore Grenvil, Raimondo ("Lucia di Lammermoor"), Procolo ("Prima la Mamma!") and the High Priest of Baal ("Nabucco").
