Andreas Bittl, born in Munich, trained as an actor at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts from 1994 to 1997. Before he was engaged at the Bochum Schauspielhaus from 2008 to 2010, he followed his studies with permanent engagements at the Burgtheater Vienna, Staatstheater Schwerin and the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel in Munich. The actor, who has now been a freelance actor for many years, has been working regularly for film and television productions by Bayerischer Rundfunk and ZDF since 1994, in addition to his busy guest appearances on German-speaking stages, and is known to television audiences from series such as "Tatort", "Polizeiruf 110", "Der Alte", "Hubert ohne Staller" and currently "Toni, männlich, Hebamme - Mächtig schwanger". At Theater Bonn, Andreas Bittl, who also creates musical solo programs as a singer and accordionist, also took over the musical direction of the production "Kasimir und Karoline" (by Horváth) in 2012. He has worked with directors such as Einar Schleef, Corinna von Rad, Dieter Dorn, Thomas Langhoff, David Mouchtar-Samorai and Elmar Goerden.
Andreas Bittl most recently played the role of Hérode in Massenet's "Hérodiade" at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and can be seen on stage in the current season as Tewje in "Anatevka".
