Julio Morel

Julio Morel was born in Paraguay and received his first ballet training in his hometown Ciudad del Este. He reached the finals of renowned Youth America Grand Prix in New York in both 2009 and 2011. He then spent three years dancing with the Youth Ballet Company of Rio de Janeiro before a Merit Scholarship enabled him to take a summer course and eventually full-time study at the San Francisco Ballet School, where he was taught by Parish Maynard and Patrick Armand. In addition to engagements with the corps de ballet of the Ballet de Monterrey, Mexico, and in the cast of the musical ‘Cats’, he also spent four years dancing as a soloist for the Campania Nacional de Danza de Mexico in Mexico City. In 2018, Demis Volpi created the main role in his choreography "Le sacre du printemps" in Mexico City for Julio Morel, who subsequently became a member of the Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2020/21 season. Here he has danced in Twyla Tharp’s "Commentaries on the Floating World", the role of Mr. Martins in Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s "Die kahle Sängerin’"and the role of Fritz in Demis Volpi’s "The Nutcracker". Most recently, he danced the role of Ekart in Aszure Barton’s new creation for the Ballett am Rhein, "Baal", in "Phlegmatic summer" by Michèle Anne de Mey and "From time to time" by John Neumeier.
