Teira Yamashita

Teira Yamashita, born in Lugano into a family of musicians, began playing the violin at the age of four. She was later accepted as a junior student at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana and studied with Prof Valery Gradow and Prof Pavel Berman.
She attended the violin class of Prof Boris Garlitsky at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. After successfully completing her bachelor's degree in Paris, she completed her master's degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Prof. Garlitsky in 2022 with top marks. She also studied in the chamber music master's programme in the class of Prof. Andreas Reiner and Prof. Thomas Hoppe. Teira Yamashita has won prizes at many national and international competitions, including the Grand Prix at the Antonio Salieri International Competition and 1st prize at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition.
From 2019-2022 she was an academy member of the WDR Symphony Orchestra and from 2022-2023 an academy member of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra. Teira Yamashita has been a member of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker since March 2023.
