Benjamin Reiners was born in Duisburg and is one of the most renowned and experienced conductors of his generation. He is much in demand as a guest conductor at major opera houses and concert halls as well as renowned symphony orchestras. Engagements have taken him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Frankfurt Opera, the Leipzig Opera, the Graz Opera, the Nuremberg and Darmstadt State Theatres, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Duisburg Philharmonic, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn and the Munich Radio Orchestra, among others.
Following an engagement as solo repetiteur and Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, he was appointed Second Kapellmeister at the Lower Saxony State Opera in Hanover in 2011. Just two seasons later, he was promoted to First Kapellmeister there. From 2016/2017 to 2018/2019, he was Deputy General Music Director and First Kapellmeister at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. In 2018, Benjamin Reiners was appointed General Music Director of the state capital of Kiel and member of the board of Theater Kiel AöR from the 2019/2020 season. In the 2025/26 season, he will become the new General Music Director of Chemnitz Municipal Theatre and Chief Conductor of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra.
The charismatic conductor has worked successfully with renowned artists and composers such as Frank Peter Zimmermann, Angela Denoke, Anja Harteros, Sondra Rodvanovsky, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Guy Braunstein, Norbert Ernst, Michael Volle, Ana de la Vega, Bomsori Kim, Nils Mönkemeyer, Fabian Müller and Hindemith Prize winner SJ Hanke.
With his wide stylistic range, his wealth of ideas and his adventurous spirit, he sets brilliant accents in opera and concerts.
