Mark Stanley

Mark Stanley has been resident lighting designer for New York City Ballet since 1986, where he has created lighting design for over 225 productions, including choreographers such as Peter Martins, Susan Stroman, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Justin Peck, Benjamin Millepied, William Forsythe, Mauro Bigonzetti, Lar Lubovitch, Jacques d'Amboise, Ulysses Dove and Kevin O'Day. Previously, he was resident lighting designer for the New York City Opera from 1983-1986. He has also worked for Susan Marshall, David Gordon, Doug Varone, Tim Rushton, Nicolo Fonte, Lynn Taylor Corbett, Mauricio Wainrot, Laura Dean, among others, as well as for numerous important ballet companies in Europe, Russia, Canada, Cuba and the USA. He has also designed the lighting for a large number of operas, musicals and plays and for various film productions. He is also a member of the board of the Gilbert Hemsley Lighting Program and author of the book "The Color of Light". Since 2004 he has been a full-time faculty member at the College of Fine Arts at Boston University.
Mark Stanley is responsible for the lighting design of "Polyphonia" as part of the ballet evening "One and others" at the Ballett am Rhein in the 2021/22 season.
