Michaela Dicu, who already assisted at the Hamburg and Stuttgart State Operas during her studies in Applied Theatre Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, works across all genres as a production manager and director as well as on the implementation of participatory projects. After graduating, she was initially employed as an assistant director at the Stuttgart State Opera. After further stations at the Nationaltheater Weimar and the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, she directed Yasmina Reza's "Kunst" and Richard O'Brien's "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen, the play development "Teil dich oder ich fress dich" at the Theater der Jungen Welt in Leipzig and Gordon Kampe's children's opera "Kannst du pfeifen, Johanna?" at the Theater Augsburg. As project manager, she was responsible for the realisation and scenic realisation of the urban performance "24h Osterode" as part of TRAFO - Models for Culture in Change as well as the FC Schalke04 Pop-OraTORium "Kennst du den Mythos...?". Other productions include Verdi's "Otello" and Dvořák's "Rusalka" at the Augsburg Theatre, Eggert's "Teufels Küche" at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, "Er ist wieder da" after Timur Vermes at the Junge Theater Göttingen and "The Blues Brothers" at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven. As part of the Clara Schumann anniversary year, she staged the world premiere of "Mädchenmonstermusik - Clara Schumann Wunderkind" at the Theater der Jungen Welt in Leipzig as well as "Wenn die Nacht am tiefsten ist..." at the Theater Hagen, her own version of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" at the Stadttheater Konstanz and Kreisler's "Lola Blau" at the Mittelsächsisches Theater in Freiberg. From 2021 to 2023 Michaela Dicu was the Artistic Production Manager of the UFO - Junge Oper Urban, where she was responsible for the libretto and direction of the world premiere of "Das Kind und das Ding" (composition: Erwin and Benjamin Stache), among other things. She has been the director of the Junge Oper am Rhein since September 2022. In the 2023/24 season she will be responsible for directing Paul Abraham's "The Fairy Tale in the Grand Hotel" at the Theater Duisburg.
