Maria Luisa Castillo Yoshida

Maria Luisa Castillo Yoshida has Japanese and Italian roots and trained professionally as a dancer at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart and the prestigious Royal Ballet Upper School in London, from which she joined the Royal Ballet company directly on graduation. She has also worked with Ballet of Catalunya, Dortmund Ballett, Aalto Ballett Essen and English National Ballet and performed in works choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, Xin Peng Wang, Katarzyna Kozielska, Ben Van Cauwenberg, Frederick Ashton, Sir Peter Wright, Kenneth MacMillan and David Bintley.
At the beginning of the 2020/2021 season, Maria Luisa Castillo Yoshida became a member of the Ballett am Rhein company, where she has since appeared in ballets including Twyla Tharp’s ‘Commentaries on the Floating World’, ‘Spectrum’ by Juanjo Arqués and as Aunt Sweet Tooth in Demis Volpi’s ‘The Nutcracker’. She has also danced in Roland Petit’s ‘Carmen’ and Aszure Barton’s ‘Baal’, as well as the role of Coppélia in Hélène Blackburns "Coppélia x Machina" and in Demis Volpis "The thing with feathers".
