Virginia Segarra Vidal

After training at the Escuela de Ballet Lupe in Benicarló, the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and the María de Ávila school of dance in Zaragoza, Spanish-born Virginia Segarra Vidal took up her first engagement at the Zaragoza ballet in 2003. This was followed by guest appearances with the English National Ballet in London and the Ballet de l’Opéra-Théâtre in Limoges. From 2007 to 2011 she was a member of the resident company at Ballett Vorpommern under ballet director Ralf Dörnen. She then become a member of Ballett am Rhein company at the beginning of the 2011/12 season, where she danced in pieces by Martin Schläpfer, Anthony Tudor, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Hans van Manen, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe and Ohad Naharin. Virginia Segarra Vidal presented her first work as a choreographer for the Ballett am Rhein as part of the emerging choreographers’ platform ‘Young Moves’ in 2018: ‘Posidonia’. She was subsequently responsible for the choreography in ‘Prometheus dis.order’, a multi-media production by Nick and Clemens Prokop, realised in 2020/21 as a co-operation between the Ballett am Rhein and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf. Her most recent stage appearances came as the Pianist in Flemming Flindt’s ‘The Lesson’, as the Office Worker in ‘Geschlossene Spiele’ and in Demis Volpi’s ‘The Nutcracker’.
