Martin Baltscheit from Düsseldorf, known also as the compère of the “Bärenbude” on WDR 5, is one of the most successful authors of children’s books in the German language. Among his awards was the German Youth Literature Prize in 2011 for his “The Story of the Fox that went out of its Mind”. Before that he had already won the German Youth Theatre Prize in 2010 for his play “The Better Forests”. Together with another prizewinner, the Berlin composer Marius Felix Lange, who recently premièred his “Snow White” in Cologne and Strasbourg and is now working on “The Canterville Ghost” for the Zürich opera, Martin Baltscheit will present his story in the literary bookshop Müller & Böhm in the Heine House prior to its Düsseldorf première. Soloists of Deutsche Oper am Rhein will help them with excerpts from their family opera to afford an entertaining preview of what the new children’s work will have to offer.
