1. Haniel Klassik Open Air
Deutsche Oper am Rhein & Duisburg Philharmonic
Theater Duisburg
Friday, 13. September 2013
20:00 hours

Free Entrance
It was an electrifying evening: When on 8 September 2012 the festivities to celebrate the centenary of Duisburg’s theatre began with a classical Open Air on the Opernplatz, 6000 guests enthusiastically acclaimed “their” Philharmonic players and “their” singers. Thanks to the generous support of Messrs. Haniel the wish to repeat this summer evening dream event can be fulfilled: At the 1st Haniel Klassik Open Air on Friday, 13 September 2013 the internationally renowned soloists of Deutsche Oper am Rhein, supported by the chorus and the extra chorus of the company and the Duisburg Philharmonic, will offer a many-faceted programme ranging from classic opera through operetta to film music. This time musical direction will alternate between the orchestra’s chief conductor Giordano Bellincampi and the theatre’s staff conductor Lukas Beikircher. As a “special guest” Peter Bursch’s All Star Band will supply the sound of rock: the celebrated guitarist will have the sumptuous orchestral tones of the Philharmonic to back him. The evening will be compèred by Götz Alsmann: the many-talented musician and media personality already aroused the public’s enthusiasm for Deutsche Oper am Rhein when he presided at the NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) summer concert on the Burgplatz in Düsseldorf in 2012.
