Ballett
Salt Womb
Ballett am Rhein as guest at the Traumzeit Festival
Description
Demis Volpi's ensemble of 45 dancers shows time and again that ballet cannot be pigeonholed into white tights and tutus, but is as diverse as the artists and the music itself. The dance piece "Salt Womb" by the Israeli artists Sharon Eyal, Gai Behar and Ori Lichtik so impressed the organisers of the Duisburg Traumzeit Festival that they invited the company to perform the closing act on the Saturday of the festival. On Sunday night, 18 June, from 1:00 a.m., nine dancers from the Ballett am Rhein will let it rip in the impressive setting of the Landschaftspark Nord in the truest sense of the word: To pounding beats, played live by Ori Lichtik, they will show all ballet fans and sceptics the thrilling power of "Salt Womb". With an impressive cosmos of movement between archaic group ritual and human machine, the company dances itself into a sweaty frenzy and once again tears down ballet clichés...
