With 60 young singers, the Kinderchor am Rhein takes part in numerous opera productions on the main stages of the Düsseldorf Opera House and Duisburg Theatre - including the world premiere and family production of "Pinocchio" by Marius Schötz and Marthe Meinhold in the 2024/25 season.
There are also many opportunities to sing together throughout the year, for example at the Christmas sing-along concert "Alle Jahre wieder" on 30 November in Duisburg and on 14 December in Düsseldorf.

History of the children's choir
Since the children's choir of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein was founded in the 2008/09 season under the direction of Karoline Philippi, it has become an integral part of the life of the theatres in Düsseldorf and Duisburg.
The girls and boys gained their first stage experience in several concerts, but also with their own productions such as Steve Pogson's ‘Persephone’, Britten's ‘The Little Chimney Sweep’ and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger's ‘The Magic Word’. Highlights in 2010 were their participation in Gustav Mahler's 8th Symphony under the direction of Lorin Maazel and the New Year's Concert in the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle under Jonathan Darlington. Their performance in ‘Carmen’ was their first major challenge on the opera stage. The artistic direction of the choir has been in the hands of Sabina López Miguez since the beginning of the 2014/15 season.

New members are always welcome in the children's choir on the Rhine. Children from the age of six are gently introduced to singing together in the preliminary choir, while the ‘grown-ups’ from the age of ten receive vocal training and scenic training in the main choir. Our youth choir invites all young adults aged 16 and over to sing.
