Opera Gala with Farewell-Party

At the centre of this year's festive opera gala of the Friends of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein is an artist who has had a decisive and lasting influence on musical life in Düsseldorf and Duisburg in recent years: General Music Director Axel Kober is taking his leave of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein after 15 years in order to be able to devote himself fully to his extensive international commitments in future.

In honour of Axel Kober and under his musical direction, over 30 soloists from the ensemble and guest stars closely associated with the house will present an exquisite gala programme together with the choir of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra.

In the first part, you can look forward to excerpts from popular operas such as Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor, Das Rheingold, Cavalleria Rusticana and Falstaff. The second part of the programme features Act 3 of Richard Strauss' Die Frau ohne Schatten with a top-class cast. Guests will include Lise Lindström, Morenike Fadayomi, Corby Welch and Bogdan Baciu and there will be a reunion with Linda Watson!
