Uwe Schröter was born in Stuttgart, where he trained as a classical dancer at the John Cranko School.
After working at the Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken and the companies in Dortmund, Bonn and Basel, he joined the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in 1996 as rehearsal director with Youri Vámos. With him he has enjoyed a long and formative collaboration. He was responsible for rehearsing Vámos' large repertoire at Ballett am Rhein as well as with numerous companies in Europe.
In his almost three decades at Ballett am Rhein, he has overseen a broad repertoire of works by big, established names in the ballet world, newcomers and contemporary-experimental artists alongside the pieces of the respective ballet director and chief choreographer and is also delighted to support Ballett am Rhein with his expertise under the direction of Raphaël Coumes-Marquet and Bridget Breiner.
