Caecilia Brenninkmeyer

Caecilia Brenninkmeyer studied musicology, music-informatics and history of art at the Music academy of Karlsruhe and at the Institute for Art, Music and Theatre at Bologna University before attaining her Masters degree in Music and Performance under Prof. Anno Mungen in the chair for “theatrical sciences with especial regard to music-theatre” at the University of Bayreuth. She took her doctorate on the theme “Opera and Cultural Identity – history of opera on the Mediterranean island of Malta” under Prof. Thomas Betzwieser at the Goethe University of Frankfurt. While still a student she already obtained first experience with various cultural institutions at home and abroad; among these were the German Musical Life Foundation in Hamburg, the Young Euro Classic Festival of Berlin, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Villa Aurora Artist Residence in Los Angeles, and also the German History Institute in Rome. As an guest trainee she also obtained experience in dramaturgy with the Bavarian State Ballet and at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Early in 2014 she had her first opening as assistant director with the “House of Wax” project of the Opera Studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. At the end of the 2014/15 season Caecilia Brenninkmeyer took up an engagement with Ballett am Rhein in the field of dramaturgy and production.
