Born in Styria, Alexandra Stampler-Brown studied law at the University of Vienna, obtained an MBA in Cultural Management with distinction from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and is a musician (violin).
After working in court and in law firms, she lived in Indonesia from 1999 to 2001, where she worked as a teacher for string orchestras at the Jakarta International School and as a consultant for commercial law in one of the largest law firms.
In 2001 she moved to Scotland for 10 years where she worked in general management in the Scottish theater scene. She gained experience in touring theater, cultural marketing, fundraising and festivals. As Managing Director of The Audience Business, she focused on audience development and data analysis for pricing and strategic marketing.
In 2011, Alexandra Stampler-Brown became Commercial Director of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, the regional theater for Carinthia. There she was responsible for the theater operations with in-house productions and guest performances in the fields of music theater, drama, ballet and concert.
Alexandra Stampler-Brown is very well connected in the international theater scene and is a welcome guest lecturer at universities and colleges. She contributes her expertise and interest in cultural policy as a member of numerous expert committees, advisory boards and commissions. She has been a member since 2017 and was coordinator of the TWIN network (Top Women in NRW) until 2024. She is a board member of Opera Europa, the umbrella organization of around 235 opera houses, and has been treasurer since 2021. She is also co-chair of the Artistic Committee of the German Stage Association and a member of the Copyright Committee and the Administrative Directors Group.
