The whole of Düsseldorf is in football fever! This year's European Football Championship is taking place in various German cities - and Düsseldorf will also be hosting some of the matches. Fan zones have been set up at the Schauspielhaus theatre, Burgplatz square and the banks of the Rhine, where various events and public viewing will take place. A public viewing programme for many visitors will be offered on the banks of the Rhine for all matches of the German national team and in Düsseldorf. Due to the fans who will be travelling through the city centre and to the stadium, the Altstadt will be very busy on match days during the European Championships (14 June - 14 July 2024). So before or after a visit to the opera or ballet, it may well be worth popping into the fan zones and getting caught up in the football fever.

It is important to bear this in mind: There will be a lot of people travelling around Düsseldorf's old town. This will affect the parking situation for your visit to the opera or ballet, as well as your journey to Düsseldorf Opera House by public transport.
